Three new exhibitions open at Hjorths Factory

Hjorths Factory in Rønne invites you to the opening of three new and exciting exhibitions that together offer a unique insight into the history, development, and contemporary state of Bornholm ceramics.

The first exhibition is a new historical presentation featuring objects from the factory’s storage – all created by the Hjorth family. The exhibition functions as a visual timeline, showcasing ceramics produced over the past 165 years at Hjorths Factory.

At the same time, the exhibition in the old manufacturer’s residence reopens, where visitors can experience Bornholm ceramics from the past 100 years. Works by ceramicists associated with Bornholm are presented here, selected from both the collection of the Bornholm Art Museum and Hjorths Factory’s own collection. The exhibition also includes a number of newly rediscovered works from storage.

Finally, the exhibition FORM opens, in which the three ceramicists Charlotte Thorup, Heidi Bjørgan, and Michael Geertsen have worked based on the original press molds from Hjorths Factory. These molds have been used in production for the past 125 years and form the basis for new works where history meets contemporary interpretations. Each artist has created works with clear references to the original objects, while expressing their own personal style. The exhibition presents both the historical molds and the objects originally produced from them.

We warmly welcome everyone to an informal opening reception, where refreshments will be served.

Opening: Wednesday, April 1, 4:00–6:00 PM
Location: Hjorths Factory, Krystalgade 5, 3700 Rønne
