BORNHOLM MUSEUM
- a cultural beacon on Bornholm
MISSION
Bornholms Museum's mission is to ensure Bornholm's cultural history, while also exploring it and disseminating the knowledge about it. In order to do that we focus on the cultural heritage already present in our collections - and our great interest in new objects through active collecting and archaeological excavation at the same time.
The museum's work is targeting an increased awareness about Bornholm's cultural heritage. Knowledge about the cultural heritage is a resource in general humanistic sense, as it works as a foundation for an active public conservation of ancient monuments, building heritage, archaeological findings, historical objects and archival records.
Bornholms Museum strives to communicate on a high level of knowledge of local history.
VISION
Bornholms Museum's four departments make up a cultural beacon on the island.
A beacon that we proudly present to residents and guests.
Bornholms Museum is a unifying cultural resource with the purpose of bridging and creating dialogue from the past to the present.
We want to facilitate an interesting and relevant visit at our museum's four departments - whether the visitor is a resident or a tourist, young or old with a longer or shorter educational background.
We wish to create an experience with a great foundation of knowledge. Our exhibitions are based on authentic historical materials. We make a virtue out of varied engaging communication, exciting facilities and a welcoming and personal service.
