APPLY THE KIBSGAARD FOUNDATION FOR YOUR NEXT PROJECT.
SUPPORTING CULTURAL HERITAGE ON BORNHOLM
Associate Professor Edna and Carl Henning Kibsgaard have left their fortune – more than 3 million DKKR in total – to projects and research within the fields of history and archaeology of Bornholm.
Carl Henning Kibsgaard obtained his degree in history from the university of Copenhagen. After a few years of employment elsewhere in Denmark he was employed as an Associate Professor at Rønne Statsskole [State School of Rønne], where he remained until his retirement. Both Edna and Carl Henning Kibsgaard were assets to the school – especially due to their dedicated interest in music. They settled in Rønne – the first few years in a small house by the school, following this in a house on Zahrtmannsvej, where they remained till their deaths. Their home was always open to the pupils of the school and to a few it became a home outside the home.
In meant a great deal to them that they could contribute to the future of archaeology and history by setting up the foundation, thereby continuing their own interests as well as expressing their gratitude for the life they had led on Bornholm.
The deed of foundation.
The purpose of the foundation is to support pupils from schools and educational institutions on Bornholm who are continuing their studies within history or archaeology at the University of Copenhagen, as well as graduate degree- and Ph.d. students who have completed their studies within these subjects and are committed to projects within history and archaeology with relevance to Bornholm.
The board consists of representative from Bornholm's Museum: Jacob Bjerring-Hansen, representative from the SAXO Institute, University of Copenhagen: Ulla Lund Hansen, and former accountant: Erik Munch Hansen.
