EXPLORE BORNHOLM AND THE COMMUNITY

Hjorths Fabrik is located in Rønne, the biggest town on the Danish island Bornholm. Even though Bornholm is Danish it is geographically closer to Sweden.

Whether you are working on your own project as a professional artist or in the production as an apprentice you will be welcomed by Hjorths Fabrik's employees. We will help you to feel at home at Hjorths and discover Bornholm's best sites and local art community.

You will have your daily routine at Hjorths Fabrik as the residency is placed on same site in Rønne as the workshops.

Rønne has shops, cafés/bars, a cinema and a music venue, and the Baltic Sea and the forest is only a walk away.

Public busses are going from Rønne across Bornholm, which makes Rønne a perfect starting point to go explore the island.

ACCOMMODATION

We have three rooms available at Hjorths for our two programs; a single room, a twin room and a double room.

Interns may expect to share a twin room during their stay.

All rooms are furnished with shared facilities as kitchen and bathroom.

The rooms are situated above the newest part of Hjorths Fabrik called 'Direktørboligen' - in here there is a new gallery and the old director's office is reestablished for visitors.

You enter the three rooms from the narrow hallway behind the dining area, which is also used as break room during work.
Downstairs you find a fully equipped kitchen that oozes coziness with a small dining area.

Thanks to Realdania, Brdr. Larsens Legat and Sparekasssen Bornholms Fond for making it possible to renovate the old Direktørbolig.

HOW TO GET HERE

Bornholm is only about 3,5 hours away from Copenhagen.

If you travel from Copenhagen to Bornholm you can go by train or bus to Ystad in Sweden and then a ferry to Rønne.

You can also get here by a direct ferry from Køge (Denmark) or Sassnitz (Germany) or by flight from Copenhagen Airport to Bornholm Airport just outside Rønne.
