Write with a slate pencil

You can go back to school and back in time on the top floor. The museum's class room represents school in the Interwar period. You will find stuffed animals in the cabinets, and by the old school desk you will find a slate pencil and a slate board, like the ones they used over 50 years ago.

At that time the teacher was very strict and the corporal punishment was still allowed. It was not unusual that the teacher had a stick to punish a bad-mannered pupil or if the pupil did not know the multiplication tables by heart.

In school you had respect for the teachers, all subjects were memorization and it was very important to learn to write beautifully cursive. You can practise your handwriting in cursive with slate pencil .
